The Direction  |  13 Steps to High Performance Leadership
Studio R: Sacred Space to Reflect-Renew

For Managers, Supervisors; Leaders, Emerging Leaders; Executives; Small Business Owners; Women Business Owners....customized to meet needs.

It does not matter how long you have been at the game because the game has changed

Gen X and Y values mix with traditional and boomer values; external forces press invisibly on organizations pressuring change; rigid mindesets and organizational structures fail to serve; incongruent behaviour is transparent; what worked before does not now.

To navigate with any kind of balance demands a commitment to growth; to looking in the mirror and learning from what you see; being prepared to see the situation from as many angles as possible, expand and shift perspective, stretch your talent, get comfortable with the learning zone.

'Accenture's High Performance Workforce Study found that only one in seven executives believe that the overall skill level of their organizations' entire workforce is industry-leading, with these shortcomings leading to a deep-seated and widespread dissatisfaction with the performance of HR and training functions.' www.management-issues.com

The Invitation....

Each week join a group of your peers, management team, virtual team or a hand-picked group who can gain from the collective wisdom you each bring.

Meet for a weekly "time out" to reflect on a tricky situation you sponsor to go to the next level of personal mastery and self-leadership.

Bring a business issue, a process, or an area of endeavor which stretches your comfort zone.  Share experiences, offer insight, ask the probing questions that surface opportunities for profound and lasting change. Program content is brought to the studio by you.

  • Receive the insight from your peers who have been there before or who see what you cannot.
  • Dig down to see the deeper dynamic underpinning the scenarios you bring to the table to reveal what is at the heart of the matter, where a small amount of effort leverages significant results.
  • Expand the lens to see clearly the social and cultural context that powers performance increasing effectiveness of decisions and actions.

Expand Your Skill Set

There is a newly emerging set of skills that takes self-and group leadership to new levels. It demands self-awareness and the ability to tap deeply into your sensitivity and attunement to the subtle cues that suggest a change of direction.

When the tsunami hit Sentinel Island, off the Bay of Bengal, the fate of 1000 or so Sentinelese tribesman was in question. As far as we know, all survived. At that time of year, they were typically fishing out on the very waters that unexpectedly rose and fell taking a high toll of human life in the surrounding area.

So how did they escape a fate so many did not?

One local environmental lawyer explained their survival. They can smell the wind. They can guage the depth of the sea with the sound of their oars. They have a sixth sense which we don't possess" Ashish Roy reported.

In reality we all have that sixth sense. We simply have lost touch with it.

Cross pollinate the sensitive attunement of underlying change to the business world and the value of seeing and sensing from a much more expansive view is self-evident.  Sailors know when the sea changes, the winds shift a different course of action is required. Business requires the same heightened level of skill to take advantage of uncertainty and to power the kind of innovation that creates hope for the future.

More than one executive has woken up realizing that they have gone as far as they can go without ramping up to the next level. It is a'grow yourself and grow your business kind of awareness'.

It is no longer good enought to be able to talk principles. you have to know how to apply them to yourself or become a headline as William Swanson, CEO of Raytheon did in the New York Times, May 3rd, 2006 -: Rule #35: Reread rule on Integrity.
